hope

as we approach Christmas, i know all of our hearts are heavy with sorrow and anger as we consider the events of last week.  there is no excuse, no justification.  our only hope is in Jesus. i find myself a little more anxious for his return. i hope that the onslaught of negative news will cause us to turn our eyes heavenward and see the hope there.  the hope that came, Christ...our savior.  i need him more. my wonderful counselor, mighty God, everlasting father, prince of peace. he is each of those to me, now more than ever.

the photo below is of (l-r) Norman Miller, my former manager; Michael Omartian, songwriter/producer; John Huie, my former CAA agent; and me, as Mary in 'The Child of the Promise'.  Norman recently went home to be with the Father in Heaven. he loved Jesus and worked tirelessly enabling christian artists, like me, Avalon, Twila Paris & Michael English to name a few, spread the gospel.  i considered him a friend and i now rejoice in his wholeness.

the Bible is clear that death is part of this life here on earth. however, it's also made quite clear that God has the final word on it.  Isaiah 25:8 says..." he will swallow up death forever!".   Jesus came to earth as a man of flesh,  Emmanuel, God with us. he came to die, that we might live.  so, while we celebrate his birth this next week, we can't help but consider his inevitable death, without which we wouldn't have the glorious hope of Heaven!!

Go tell it on the mountain!!!! scream it from the rooftops!!! He is born... our Messiah has come to give us hope!!!

I, too, am anticipating His return. It's been a few days since this tragedy occurred, and my heart felt so heavy.
I was listening to some music today to help wind down after a draining day (in all aspects) and I was reminded that He will bring beauty out of these ashes that have been left behind; gladness for mourning; peace for despair. He has, He is, and He WILL heal the brokenhearted and bind up each wound.
Psalm 147:3
